A report in The Wall Street Journal Tuesday said that Charter Communications chairman and Microsoft co-founder Paul was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma earlier this month and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments.Vulcan Inc., Allen's Seattle private investment arm, confirmed The Journal report and that Allen was undergoing treatment.
In an e-mail sent to employees Monday, Vulcan CEO Jody Allen (Paul Allen's sister) said her brother was "feeling OK and remains upbeat," and continues to work.
"This is tough news for Paul and the family," Jody Allen continued. "But for those who know Paul's story, you know he beat Hodgkin's a little more than 25 years ago and he is optimistic he can beat this, too."
Allen left Microsoft in 1983 after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease and recovered.
