Fans Can Text 'Monk' Farewell

Messages Will Screen During Sunday Marathon; First Of Two-Part Series Finale Premieres Friday Night

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 11/27/2009 1:38:02 PM

USA Network is winding down the remaining episodes of Monk in style.
The "characters welcome" service, which is airing the first -- Mr. Monk and the End, Part 1-- of the two-part concluder on Nov. 27 at 9 p.m., is giving fans a chance to say farewell. Fans can go online, text or tweet their goodbyes, to the series.
Some of those sentiments will scroll on-screen during USA's "Monk Viewers Choice Farewell Marathon" on Nov. 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (ET).The event will feature "Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico," "Mr. Monk and the Garbage," and "Mr. Monk and the Rapper."
Similarly, West Coast watchers will have a chance to see their messages, when those installments run over the same span (PT).
Fans can still text from their phone bye+name+message to USATXT (872898) or go online to monk.usanetwork to email in their messages through Friday, Nov. 27. This marks the first time USA is employing the Text-To-TV technology and is the network's way of giving back to the loyal fan base for Monk before the series ends after eight seasons.
On the Nov. 27 episode, Mr. Monk and the End, Part 1, Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is called to a crime at the location, where he first heard the news of his wife's murder and begins the most important investigation of his life. The installment guest stars Melora Hardin and Casper Van Dien.
