Syfy’s 'Alice’ Not a Nielsen Wonderland
New York — Although it easily surpassed Syfy’s season averages from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., Alice, the network’s reimagining of Alice In Wonderland, fell well short of the performance of the 2007 miniseries Tin Man.
That modern-day version of The Wizard of Oz was the network’s best ever miniseries.
For its two-night premiere on Dec. 6 and 7, Alice averaged 2.3 million watchers, according to Nielsen data. That total included some 1.3 million persons 18 to 49 and 1.2 million adults 25 to 54, according to network officials.
Those numbers were well below those for Tin Man, which averaged 5.3 million viewers during its Dec. 2-4, 2007, premiere. Tin Man, which topped Steven Spielberg Presents Taken and Frank Herbert’s Dune as predecessor Sci Fi’s best miniseries, averaged a 3.6 household rating, 3.4 million households, 2.9 million adults 25 to 54, and 2.7 million adults 18 to 49.
'Ultimate Fighter’ Finale Draws 3.7 Million Viewers
New York — Spike TV’s Dec. 5 season-10 finale of The Ultimate Fighter pinned down 3.7 million viewers, the biggest final episode audience for the UFC-produced mixed martial arts reality series.
The live telecast of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights — which marked the UFC debut of popular mixed martial arts wrestler Kimbo Slice, who earned a decision win in his fight — was the third-most-watched UFC fight card ever, according to the network.
Roy “Big Country” Nelson was crowned the winner of the series after knocking out Brendan Schaub in the show’s main event bout.
Overall, season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter averaged 3.4 million viewers, well above the 2 million viewers the series averaged over its previous nine seasons.
'iCarly’ Special Tops 8.8 Million Viewers
New York — Kids and tweens didn’t quit on Nickelodeon’s Dec. 5 iCarly primetime special, which posted a series record 8.8 million viewers.
The iQuit iCarly special set series records among tweens (3.7 million), kids 6 to 11 (3.9 million) and kids 2 to 11 (4.7 million), and was the most watched show within those demos on all cable and broadcast channels during the week of Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, according to network officials.
Overall the show ranked third among the most watched cable shows last week behind ESPN’s Nov. 30 New England Patriots-New Orleans Saints Monday Night Football telecast (21.4 million) and the Dec. 4 series finale of USA Network’s Monk (9.4 million).
Including iQuit iCarly, six iCarly specials in 2009 have averaged more than 7.1 million viewers.
TNT Renews `Dark Blue’
Atlanta — TNThas renewed its gritty cop series Dark Blue for a sophomore campaign, network officials confirmed Wednesday.
Dark Blue, which stars Dylan McDermott as the head of an off-the-radar team of officers charged with infiltrating the worst crime gangs in Los Angeles, drew 3.3 million viewers during its freshman campaign this past summer.
