Cox Business Elevates Meeks, Faulkner

MSO Remains On Track To Exceed $1 Billion In Business Services Revenue During 2010

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 12/17/2009 5:13:14 PM

Cox Communications has promoted two executives in its business-services division: Phil Meeks, to senior vice president of Cox Business; and Kristine Faulkner, who has been named a corporate officer and will continue her role as vice president of product development and management.
According to the company, Cox Business will grow revenue in the "mid-teens" this year and remains on track to exceed $1 billion in revenue in 2010. The MSO said the unit will represent more than 50% of overall revenue growth next year.
"Despite a challenging economy, Cox Business has continued to aggressively grow and this is a testament to its leaders," Cox chief operating officer Leo Brennan said in announcing the promotions. "Demand for an alternative business provider exists, but the effective leadership of Phil, Kristine and their teams ensures the sales execution and reliable service delivery that attract those customers to Cox."
Meeks, who oversees the strategic direction of the Cox Business unit, joined the company in July 2008. Prior to joining Cox, Meeks spent 20 years at MCI (now part of Verizon), where he most recently developed $200 million in new revenue as senior vice president of strategic ventures and alliances in two years.
Faulkner -- who was named one of Multichannel News's 2010 Wonder Women  -- has led the deployment of Cox Business's VoiceManager, a hosted IP voice service available in 12 markets that delivers features such as disaster recovery, remote office and unified messaging, to small and medium businesses. Her team has also enhanced the capabilities of the hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) network to extend the addressable base for advanced voice and data services by 80%.
Also Thursday, Cox announced the recent appointments or promotions of three other executives: Johannes Eckert, vice president of communications technology; Philip Nutsugah, vice president of voice strategy and product management; and Vic Syracuse, vice president of production operations.
