Biased Polling?
(RE: “Time Warner Cable Updates 'Get Tough’ Ad Campaign,” Dec. 15): “Not that I disagree at all with what TWC is doing, but the Web site is designed to encourage 'Get Tough’ votes. Out of curiosity I chose 'Roll Over’ … the page displayed basically said, 'Are you sure you want us to raise your bill? Try again.’
Still, after the 'cable companies make Dora cry’ nonsense, fighting fire with fire seems a valid option.”

Some HD Is Free
(RE: Mixed Picture: HD Penetration Up, But Viewer Confusion Persists,” Multichannel.com, Dec. 15): “Quote: 'Only two-thirds [66%] of those who say they own an HDTV set subscribe to an HD service.’
It doesn’t help that supposed experts say things like this, implying that consumers have to subscribe to an HD service.
There is actually a lot of HD programming out there, available free from over-the-air broadcasters.
The answer is, definitely, education … ”

Ensuring Access
(RE: “NCTA’s McSlarrow Frames ISP Debate,” Dec. 12) “Wow! Maybe [NCTA president Kyle] McSlarrow will help see that the FCC ensures cable operators permit leased-access users to take advantage of the Internet to deliver content to headends using IPTV.
My firm, StogTv, now has a cable attorney asserting the cable site does not have to permit us to use the Internet to deliver signals to their headend. And … the sad thing is the FCC’s Media Bureau is sidestepping discussing this.
So, how about it, NCTA President McSlarrow? Will you help the president of LAPA (Leased Access Programmers Association) get the FCC to ensure we’re not left out of the mix?”
