CES 2010 To See Decline In Exhibitors

About 2,500 Companies Expected At Next Month's Las Vegas Confab

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 12/28/2009 1:39:12 PM

The Consumer Electronics Association expects 2,500 exhibitors for next month's CES in Las Vegas -- down from approximately 2,700 in 2009 -- although the 2010 confab will feature a record number of more than 330 new exhibiting companies, the trade group said Monday.

CEA expects around 110,00 attendees for the 2010 International CES, its same estimate as last year although the final tally for 2009 beat expectations with 113,085.

The event, set for Jan. 7-10, 2010, will feature keynote addresses from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Ford president and CEO Alan Mulally, Intel president and CEO Paul Otellini and Qualcomm chairman and CEO Paul Jacobs.

Also attending CES will be Federal Communications Commission chairman Julius Genachowski, who will be interviewed by CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro in a session Friday, Jan. 8. NBC Universal, which is in the process of merging with Comcast, is returning as the official broadcast partner of CES.

In addition, CES will include 20 market-specific TechZones highlighting emerging markets, such as e-books, 3D, mobile DTV and netbooks.
