The weather may not cooperate, but that's not putting a damper on NHL Network's and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia's coverage around the 2010 Bridgestone Winter Classic from Fenway Park on New Year's Day.
The outdoor game at the landmark baseball stadium, pitting the Boston Bruins versus the Philadelphia, is scheduled to face off at 1 p.m. on NBC. The forecast calls for a chance of rain.
NHL Network, which aired a tribute to outdoor hockey on Dec. 30 with Pond Hockey: A Documentary Film, has lined up four-and-a-half hours of live coverage on New Year's Eve, with NHL On The Fly: 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic Practice Coverage presented by Vizio. Beginning at 11 a.m. (ET).the network will coverage of both teams' practices, all in HD.
On game day, NHL Network's pre- and post-event coverage includes the NHL On The Fly: 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic Pregame Show, which starts at 11 a.m., with a 90-minute preview that will break down the key match-ups. The post-game show will feature highlights, interviews and press conferences with all the major players.
Also, U.S. Olympic team general manager Brian Burke will be on the NHL Network's Fenway Park set minutes after the U.S. Olympic Team roster is announced. NHL Network's hockey experts follow with analysis and a breakdown of what to expect in Vancouver.
For its part, CSN Philadelphia, the cable home to the Flyers, as part of its Winter Classic Practice Coverage, will encore the NHL Network's practice presentation at Dec. 31 at 6:30 p.m. CSN's John Boruk and Bill Clement will be reporting on the Flyers' reaction as they take to the ice for the first time, plus provide in-depth analysis of the Flyers-Bruins matchup on New Year's Day.
CSN will drop the puck on Flyers Pregame Live beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 1. Gregg Murphy will host the program with Boruk, Clement and Flyers insider Tim Panaccio reporting live from Boston.
Flyers analyst Al Morganti will be live in studio. Immediately after the game, Flyers Postgame Live will hit the air with reaction to this historic game.
