'Diversity Week' Marks Manhattan Return In September

NCTA Also Sets Cable Connection Spring, Fall Schedules For 2010

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 1/13/2010 5:32:31 PM

Cable's "Diversity Week" is returning to New York in September.
As part of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association's calendar of events and conferences for 2010, the annual meetings for such cable diversity groups as Women in Cable & Telecommunications, the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications and the Walter Kaitz Foundation will take place at the Hilton in New York during mid-September.
Those and other events had been consolidated within the Cable Connection Spring and Fall weeks the industry introduced in 2009, with a host of organizations meeting during April in Washington and in Denver last October.
One month after the Denver event, word about the NAMIC Annual Conference moving back to New York from its slotted position in New Orleans next October began to surface.

This year, Cable Connection Spring 2010, headed by The Cable Show, is scheduled in Los Angeles, principally in the Los Angeles Convention Center from May 10-14. Cable Cable Connection Fall, meanwhile, is ticketed for Hilton New Orleans & Morial Convention Center in New Orleans from Oct. 18-20.

With the return of Diversity Week to New York, WICT will hold its Leadership Conference on Sept. 13-14, which last year was part of the Cable Connection Spring event.

NAMIC's 24th Annual Conference is slated for Sept. 14-15, after being part of Cable Connection Fall 2009. NCTA's board of directors meeting will be held in the Big Apple on Sept. 15, followed that night by the Walter Kaitz Foundation Fundraising Dinner, which last year also was held in Denver.
The Association of Cable Communicators Forum is on tap on Sept. 15-16 in Manhattan.

In addition to Cable Show 2010 from May 11-13, Cable Connection Spring will feature the Cable Pioneers' Dinner (May 10); CableLabs' Law & Technology Seminar (May 10-11); CableLabs' CableNet (May 11-13); SCTE/NCTA/CableLabs Spring Technical Forum (May 11-13); a new WICT luncheon event (May 11); Cable Center Hall of Fame Ceremony (May 11); the CTAM Research Conference (May 12-14); and the NAMIC Annual Awards Breakfast (May 13).
Cable Connection Fall in NOLA will showcase the CTAM Summit (Oct. 18-20); SCTE Cable-Tex Expo (Oct. 19-22); and WICT Tech It Out Breakfast (Oct. 20).
