TCA 2010: HBO Acquires Rights To 'Sins Of My Father' Documentary
'Broad Street Bullies' Documentary On Tap For May

HBO announced Thursday it has picked up the U.S. TV rights to the Colombian-based documentary Sins Of My Father and will air the film in fall 2010.
The documentary focuses on the notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar as seen through the eyes of his son Sebasatian Marroquin, said the network. The film premiered at the 2009 International Documentary Film Festival and is an official selection in the World Documentary Competition at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
On the sports side, the network will showcase the 1970's Philadelphia Flyers hockey team as part of a new documentary set to debut in May. Broad Street Bullies will tell the back stories of the tough and physical team who won back-to-back National Hockey League Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, said the network.
"This film will explore how a group of characters, who also happened to be an extraordinarily talented collection of hockey players that enjoyed contact on the ice, formed one of the most prominent and controversial teams in pro sports history," said Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports in a prepared statement. "We are going to re-trace the steps that led to the love affair between the city and the team, and show how to this day these players are revered in Philadelphia and despised elsewhere."

To readers of the "Sins of My Fathers" story, Colombians are probably renaming reporter Umstead to Bumstead for misspelling the name of their country.
