Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 1/15/2010 5:29:15 PM

Cox Communications is delivering 230 channels of IPTV, as well as voice and data services, over a fiber network to Las Vegas' CityCenter, a 67-acre complex that includes hotels, a casino, residences, retail outlets and entertainment venues.

The deal represents Cox's first IPTV deployment. Cox's Hospitality Network subsidiary designed and built two 10-Gigabit fiber-optic circuits to a telecommunications facility at CityCenter that distributes Cox services to various endpoints at the complex.

The IPTV system uses SeaChange International's video-on-demand system and middleware. In addition, Cox is using IPTV set-top boxes manufactured by Enseo, a Richardson, Texas-based company that develops HD video delivery solutions for the hospitality industry and other vertical markets.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed. In addition to provide Internet, TV and digital telephone to CityCenter hotels, residences, shops and restaurants. the company is providing CityCenter data transport services for back office and enterprise use.

CityCenter  -- located between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts in on the Vegas Strip -- is a joint venture between MGM Mirage and Infinity World Development Corp, a subsidiary of Dubai World. The development includes Aria, a 61-story, 4,000-room gaming resort; luxury non-gaming hotels including Mandarin Oriental and Vdara Hotel & Spa; Veer Towers residential buildings; and Crystals, a 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment district.

Cox's Hospitality Network division provides video, voice and data services to more than 125,000 guest rooms at casino hotels and resorts in Nevada, New Jersey, Mississippi and other areas of the U.S.
