Vendors Prep Place-Shifting, ITV Demos For CableLabs Confab
SeaChange, Clearleap, FourthWall Media Among 12 Companies Presenting

SeaChange International, Clearleap and FourthWall Media will be among the 12 vendors delivering presentations as part of the Innovation Showcase next week at the CableLabs Winter Conference 2010 in Denver.
Attendees at the CableLabs confab are expected to pick a "best product idea" from the Innovation Showcase, scheduled for Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
SeaChange will demo its Intelligent Video Platform, which lets subscribers view video across televisions, broadband-connected PCs and smartphones, including Apple's iPhone. The Intelligent Video Platform runs as an application on the Axiom on Demand platform.
In a joint demo at the Innovation Showcase, interactive TV developer FourthWall Media (formerly BIAP) is teaming up with Clearleap, which has developed a Web-to-TV video-delivery platform, to create a video-centric interactive TV application.
The two companies will showcase an interactive weather application featuring content from The Weather Channel, based on CableLabs' Enhanced Binary Interchange Format (EBIF) specification. The FourthWall/Clearleap app provides up-to-date weather information, including video forecasts delivered by on-camera meteorologists delivered minutes after the content was produced.
"This demonstrates how Internet technologies are delivering on the promise of the next-generation television experience," said Cearleap co-founder and CEO Braxton Jarratt. The app "is just one example of how Web technologies have shifted the industry conversations from ‘what if' to ‘how fast.'"
The CableLabs Winter Conference, Feb. 7-10 at the Hyatt Regency Denver, is open only to the consortium's members and partners. A CableLabs spokesman declined to identify all 12 of the participating companies ahead of time.
