Yolanda Barco, Allen Ecker, Terence McGuirk, Marc Nathanson, Abbe Raven and JR Shaw have been chosen as the 2010 class inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame, in a ceremony in Los Angeles on May 11.

Barco, who died in May 2000, was the vice president and executive officer at Meadville Master Antenna Inc. and held many important positions in the cable industry. Ecker is the retired executive vice president of equipment provider Scientific Atlanta. McGuirk is the chairman and CEO of the Atlanta Braves and a longtime Turner Broadcasting executive. Nathanson is the chairman of Mapleton Investments and was the longtime chairman and CEO of Falcon Cable TV. Raven (pictured) is president and CEO of A&E Television Networks. Shaw is the executive chair of Shaw Communications Inc., the Canadian cable operator.A&E Television Networks' Abbe RavenA&E Television Networks' Abbe Raven

The honorees were chosen based on their dedication to and impact on the cable industry and their communities, The Cable Center said.

The 2010 Cable Hall of Fame selection committee was chaired by Michael Willner, vice chairman and chief executive officer of Insight Communications, chairman of The Cable Center's board, and a 2008 Cable Hall of Fame inductee.

Since 1998, 78 men and women have become members of the Cable Hall of Fame.

"We are honored to welcome these six visionaries into the Cable Hall of Fame," Willner said in a statement. "Their hard work and thought leadership have helped to shape and strengthen the cable industry as we move into the new decade and beyond."

"Our honorees are true mavericks -- they have contributed their immense talent, new ideas and business savvy to help create today's telecommunications landscape," Larry Satkowiak, CEO of The Cable Center, said in the statement. "We are excited to build upon the success of last year's Cable Hall of Fame event, and honor these six deserving leaders during the NCTA Cable Show and Cable Connection -- Spring."

The 13th annual Cable Hall of Fame Celebration will be held Tuesday, May 11, at JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. Live. The event is moving from the fall time period to be part of the Cable Connection -- Spring series of meetings related to the cable TV industry.
