Henry Winkler will have a recurring role in the 18-episode sophomore season of USA drama Royal Pains.
The Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee (Happy Days, Arrested Development) will portray Eddie R. Lawson, the absentee father to Hank (Mark Feuerstein) and Evan (Paulo Costanzo) Cable's top new show of 2009 ended with a cliffhanger in which Hank learned that their father had taken the majority of HankMed's fund.
Winkler's character arrives unannounced in the Hamptons, determined to reinsert himself into his sons' lives and make up for lost time. But his motives are unclear at best.
Royal Pain's first season in 2009 ranked as the top new series in cable history, delivering more persons 25 to 54, 18 to 49, 18 to 34, and total viewers than the freshman season of any other scripted series, according to USA officials.
