Time Warner Cable Adding 170 To Outbound Call Center In Albany

Hiring Will Support Customers In Upstate New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 2/10/2010 2:37:38 PM

Time Warner Cable is bulking up its roster at its regional outbound center in Albany.
The nation's No. 2 cable operator said it will add 170 full- and part-time jobs to enhance its customer service capabilities in the northeast.
Time Warner Cable said it's adding the jobs -- 50 full-time, the balance part-time encompassing outbound sales agents, supervisors and support positions -- in Albany to meet growing demand for its cable TV, Internet and digital phone products, as the regional outbound center serves Time Warner Cable customers in upstate New York, Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Time Warner Cable officials said the hiring process is already under way and all of the jobs will be filled by June, doubling the size of the center's work force.
The Albany expansion follows a year in which Time Warner Cable in New York surpassed 100 high-definition (HD) channels; increased the speed of its Road Runner high-speed Internet service by adding Power Boost; and made Start Over available on 90 channels, many of which are HD channels. In 2009, customers in upstate New York, Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts placed more than 178 million Video On Demand orders for both free and paid content, and used Start Over more than 37 million times, according to the MSO.
Late last month, it was reported that Time Warner Cable would cut 350 jobs in the Denver market, closing a call center and its National Division headquarters in the city.

Time Warner Cable Northeast regional vice president for operations John Quigley and New York State Senator Neil. Breslin announced the Albany expansion at a noontime news conference in the state capital.
"The expansion at our outbound center in Albany will support a more proactive outreach to Time Warner Cable's customers in the Northeast," Quigley said. "Customers are using our services more than ever before and this dedicated team will further enhance our customers' experience.

Time Warner Cable is pleased to make this expansion in Albany," Quigley continued. "The Albany outbound center consistently receives the best customer satisfaction scores across all of Time Warner Cable. That's a credit to the strong team of people who work here and demonstrates the quality of the work force here in the Capital Region."
