Moloney Stays At Home Unit After Motorola Reorganization

Exec Will Report to Jha Under Company's New Structure

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 2/12/2010 12:29:57 PM

Dan Moloney will no longer oversee Motorola's wireless-infrastructure business, under the company's revised plan to split into two independent entities, but will continue to head the Home unit focused on cable and telecommunications equipment.
With the reorganization Moloney, currently president of the Horsham, Pa.-based Home & Networks Mobility group, will return to running the Home division. He will report to Sanjay Jha, previously head of the Mobile Devices division, who has been named CEO of Motorola's newly created Mobile Devices and Home businesses effective immediately

"Dan has over 20 years of industry experience, operational expertise, and strong customer relationships," spokeswoman Jennifer Weyrauch-Erickson said in a statement.

With the new plan, Motorola will undo the change it made in 2007 when it put Moloney in charge of the combined Home & Networks Mobility business.

Motorola now expects to split into two separate companies by the first quarter of 2011: one that will merge mobile devices and the cable-oriented Home business, and the other comprising its wireless networking and enterprise units. The latter will be run by Greg Brown, who was previously Moloney's boss in charge of the Home & Networks Mobility and Enterprise Mobility Solutions businesses.

Moloney, prior to the 2007 restructuring, was president of the company's Connected Home Solutions business, which developed communication and entertainment technologies for cable and telco operators. He joined Motorola with its acquisition of General Instrument in 2000.

Moloney had joined GI in 1983 as a member of the corporate financial and planning staff and served in various management positions in marketing, product management, finance and strategy.
