Planet Green will launch its new Verge programming block March 29, headlined by the premiere of several new shows and specials.
The seven-day, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Verge-branded programming block will showcase original Planet Green series featuring personalities and innovators advocating an eco-friendly lifestyle and conscious living, according to network officials. "The launch of Verge and our transition to a 24-hour clock represent the next steps in the evolution of Planet Green," said Laura Michalchyshyn, President and General Manager of Planet Green in a statement. "We're expanding our network dialogue to include stories of passionate people doing forward-thinking things. These are the change makers who are inspiring us to think differently and positively for the future -whether they're chefs, urbanites-cum-farmers, fashion designers or technological innovators. Audiences will be amazed by their stories."
On tap to premiere during the block's opening week is Future Food, debuting March 30 and starring Chicago-based restaurateurs and chefs Homaro Cantu and Ben Roche who mix and match ingredients to discover the dishes of tomorrow.
Other shows set for Verge include the Morgan Spurlock-produced reality series 30 Days which aired on FX in 2005; Planet Green original series Living With Ed starring featuring the eco-friendly adventures of actor Ed Begley Jr., and his wife Rachelle; reality series Conviction Kitchen; Operation Wild, which follows the exploits of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission; and Blood Sweat and Takeaways, in which a group of six young fast food junkies spends a month finding out the truth about how their favorite foods are produced.
