Verizon Cuts Pricing For No-Contract FiOS Bundles In Tampa
Telco Offers Month-to-Month Pricing Previously Available Only Under Two-Year Agreement

Verizon is making FiOS TV, Internet and phone bundles in the Tampa Bay region available on a month-to-month basis at the same prices previously available only to customers with two-year contracts, with guaranteed pricing for one year and no early termination fee.
The new offer, announced Monday, will increase the competitive pressure on Bright House Networks, the incumbent cable operator in the Tampa market.
Verizon now offers Tampa consumers a baseline FiOS bundle month-to-month, with no term contract or early termination fee, for $99.99 per month before taxes, fees and customer-selected service additions such as set-top boxes and premium channels. The $99.99 per month bundle includes FiOS TV Prime HD, FiOS Internet 15/5 and FiOS Digital Voice.
"Tampa is a very competitive market, and we've been told by customers either directly or in focus groups that they know our service is better but a contract has been a barrier for purchasing FiOS," Verizon spokeswoman Heather Wilner said in an e-mail.
Verizon has always offered month-to-month bundles, although for $20 to $30 higher per month than bundles with the two-year contract. Currently, Tampa is the only market where Verizon is offering the month-by-month parity pricing option. Wilner said the telco has made similar offers available in the past "and we may expand this to other markets."
In Tampa, Verizon also is offering new no-contract FiOS bundle customers a 30-day "Peace of Mind Pledge" guarantee that allows customers to cancel with no early termination fee during that time. In addition, no-contract customers will receive the FiOS TV Movie Package, with more than 40 channels including Encore, Flix, Showtime and Starz, free for six months, which has been the same offer for new term-contract customers.
