Verizon Wireless said its V Cast Video service -- with more than 230 full-length programs from 40 content partners -- is now available on the carrier's family of Google Android-based smartphones.
The video lineup includes live streams of all 64 of Univision's Spanish-language broadcasts of the 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer matches from South Africa, an exclusive deal with Verizon Wireless for mobile; recently added programming from A&E Television Networks' A&E, Lifetime Television and History; and Spanish-language content from V-me.
Other content on V Cast Video include TV shows from NBC, Fox, CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.
However, the Android-based phones are not currently able to access the V Cast Mobile TV service, provided through Qualcomm's FLO TV subsidiary.
As of Monday, the V Cast Video app is available in the Verizon Channel in Android Market on all Android smartphones from Verizon Wireless: Motorola's Droid and Devour; HTC's Droid ERIS and Droid Incredible; and LG's Ally.
V Cast Video is available for a $10 monthly subscription in addition to a data plan. The service also is available with various LG, Nokia, Samsung and BlackBerry devices.
