by R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 6/16/2010 10:01:34 AM

Premium movie network Epix will test the subscriber authentication waters will the rollout of its new EpixHD.com website this month to Cox Communication and Mediacom Communications subscribers.

The web-based service, which will feature the entire movie lineup of the Paramount Pictures, Lions Gate Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer-owned channel, will also be available to Charter Communications subscribers in July, according to network executives. Verizon FiOS TV also offers EpixHD.com to its subscribers, and satellite provider Dish Network is expected to launch the online service later this summer.
Epix will authenticate subscribers from those MSOs who wish to gain access to the website. The web offering will compliment Epix's linear premium channel and subscription video on demand offerings.
"As we continue to define the future of multi-screen entertainment consumption, we are thrilled Epix and EpixHD.com will be universally accessible to Cox, Charter and Mediacom customers," said Mark Greenberg, President and CEO of Epix in a statement. "We are inspired by the leadership our distribution partners have shown and impressed with their successful efforts to make subscriber entitlement operational in a matter of weeks."
Charter vice president of product management Rich DiGeronimo added that Epix's three service platforms will enable customers "to embrace and complement how they experience video."
