FCC Names Chief Technologist
U. of Colo. Professor Douglas Sicker Tapped for Post

Washington -- The Federal Communications Commission has named Douglas Sicker as chief technologist.Chairman Julius Genachowski said in announcing the appointment that he will "help the FCC pursue policies that spur investment, create jobs, promote innovation, and advance our nation's global technology leadership."
Sicker will be based in the Office of Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis.
Sicker was also an adviser on research and development to the FCC's national broadband plan task force.
It will be a homecoming for Sicker, who is also the former chief of the FCC's network technology division. Most recently, Sicker has been an associate professor of computer science at the University of Colorado.
His resume also includes director of global architecture for Level 3 Communications.
