FiOS Takes Clearleap For Local, Sports Video Content

Verizon Deploys Web-Based System to Manage Content For FiOS1, Sports Teams

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 7/26/2010 10:54:18 AM

Verizon had deployed Clearleap's Web-based content management system initially to streamline production for FiOS 1, the telco's linear local channel offered in a several markets.
At FiOS1 production hubs on Long Island, N.Y., and in Washington, D.C., Verizon is using Clearleap's management system to help producers upload, process and redistribute content back to targeted local markets.
In addition, Verizon is using Clearleap to let two National Football League teams -- the New York Jets and New England Patriots -- directly upload VOD content to FiOS TV subscribers.
"Clearleap's platform allows us to create more compelling local content while dramatically increasing the speed and reducing costs for quickly getting that content into customers' homes," Tricia Lynch, Verizon's director of content strategy and acquisition, said in a statement.
Clearleap's VOD system has been deployed by six of the top 10 pay-TV services, including Comcast's Houston division, Mediacom Communications and Bresnan Communications (in the process of being acquired by Cablevision Systems).
