Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 7/31/2010 8:50:03 AM

Outdoor Channel has reeled in a wider berth with Comcast in Houston.
Beginning on Aug. 17, Outdoor Channel will be available on the operator's Digital Preferred tier its system serving the Houston market on channel 115. Deal terms were not disclosed.

The independent network will also continue to be carried on Comcast's sports tier in the area.
Outdoor Channel is currently in the midst of its "Biggest Summer Ever" initiative, comprising 13 new original shows and 71 season premieres of returning series, that will bow in the third quarter.
"We are currently celebrating our ‘Biggest Summer Ever,' so when Houston's hunters and anglers aren't in the field or on the water, they'll be able to enjoy our outdoor programming from the comforts of home," said Randy Brown, executive vice president of affiliate sales and marketing in a statement.

"Outdoor Channel is a welcomed addition to our Digital Preferred tier," noted Ray Purser, vice president of government and public relations for Comcast. "The network, which focuses on the outdoor lifestyle with an emphasis on conservation, aligns with the interests of our viewers and even showcases content shot in and around the Lone Star state."
