While the Allman Brothers Band is in the midst of a run at the Beacon Theatre that will culminate with the group's 200th performance at the venue, MSG Network will cap its presentation with the southern rock stalwarts with a live concert Monday night.
MSGN will air the first live concert in its 41-year history with The Allman Brothers Band Live from the Beacon Theatre on Monday, March 14 at 8:30 p.m.
The show will be telecast with limited interruptions and will feature taped interviews with members of the band, from their current run at the Beacon Theatre, during intermission of the performance. MSGN aired eight nights of Allman Brothers action, with a quartet of taped performances from the band's concert series at th
e United Palace Theater last spring, from March 4-11.
The Allman Brothers Band, which played its first show at the Beacon Theatre in 1989, is currently in the midst of its annual spring residency that kicked off on March 10. The March 12 show marked the 40th anniversary of the recording of the group's legendary live album, At Fillmore East (the record also featured tracks from its multiple performances on March 13, 1971 from the late Bill Graham's famed New York City venue). The finale of this run on March 26 will be the band's record 200th show at the Beacon.
"MSG has offered viewers the best acts in the music industry from our iconic venues for years and telecasting a live show will be another historic night for the network," said Dan Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager of MSG Networks, in a statement. "We are proud to be an integral part of such a rich tradition between The Allman Brothers Band, the Beacon Theatre and New York City."
