Time Warner Cable Debuts Online Backup For Business

MSO Partners With Mozy for Business Class Online Backup Service

Time Warner Cable Business Class, the cable operator's business services arm, has launched a service that allows businesses to automatically back up files securely to a remote data center as a protection against data loss.

The operator is offering Business Class Online Backup in partnership with Mozy, a Seattle-based provider of online backup services that is owned by storage giant EMC.

Pricing is based on amount of data. The service starts at $5.95 per month for up to 10 Gigabytes. The top-level tier is $249.95 per month for up to 500 GB, with an additional $44.95 for each 100 GB (up to 1.5 Terabyte).

TWCBC's Business Class Online Backup service provides data encryption as well as centralized management and configuration, with a Web-based administrative console. Customers must install software on systems they want to back up but otherwise the service requires no additional investment in hardware or information technology resources.

"Businesses are increasingly reliant on vital computer data, and their need to protect and maintain this critical information also continues to grow," Craig Collins, Time Warner Cable Business Class senior vice president of business services sales and marketing, said in a statement. "Our new Business Class Online Backup provides our customers with a reliable and secure data storage service that will enable their business operations to proceed unimpeded should data loss occur."

Time Warner Cable Business Class, formed in 1998, serves more than 320,000 business customers across the MSO's markets.
