Cablevision's Bickham, Citi's Eliason Set For ACC Event

2011 Communications Institute Kicks Off May 4 With Keynote Talks

by MCN Staff -- Multichannel News, 4/26/2011 3:37:01 PM

Cablevision executive John Bickham and the man who originated the "ComcastCares" social media effort will hold keynote discussions at the Association of Cable Communicators' Communications Institute May 4.

Bickham, president of cable & communications at Cablevision, will provide an overview of current industry issues, advice for cable communicators and a perspective on the future in a Q&A discussion at the New York City event.

Frank Eliason, SVP of social media at Citi and a social-media pioneer at his former post at Comcast, also will hold a keynote talk. He earned renown at Comcast for its social media outreach, cited by BusinessWeek as "Comcast's Twitter Man."

Other sessions will feature Thaler Pekar and career strategist Anne Messenger.

The institute is produced in cooperation with Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. It is designed for mid- to senior-level communicators and related industry executives who would like to expand their knowledge base and advance their overall communications capability and understanding. It will be held at Lubin House, Syracuse University's New York City facility adjacent to Central Park on 61st Street.

"This is one of the most important things we do all year, give a small group of cable communicators the opportunity to come together in an academic setting and talk about our industry and the core function that unites us as professionals," Jim Maiella, ACC president and vice president of media relations for Cablevision, said in a release. "The ACC Communications Institute is an important part of ACC's core mission, which is giving cable communicators the practical tools, training and perspective to achieve at an even higher level. Last year's installment was widely regarded as the best ever, and we think this year will be even better and more valuable."

Space is limited to the first 25 qualified applicants. For additional information or to register, contact Steve Jones at 202-222-2373 or via email at sjones@cablecommunicators.org. Information on the program may also be found by visiting http://www.cablecommunicators.org/resources_inst.php
