CBS Sports Net Scores CableOne Affiliate Pact

Deal Covers Digital Value Pak Rollouts In Five States By Aug. 1; Other Launches To Follow

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 6/27/2011 4:34:09 PM

CBS Sports Network, adding a key affiliate, has reached a distribution deal with CableOne.
The cable operator will launch CBS Sports Network on its systems serving Idaho, as well as select markets in Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The rollout will provide coverage of the Mountain West Conference for CableOne subscribers in Idaho, home to one of college football's top programs, the Boise State Broncos.

A CableOne spokeswoman also said its Mississippi subscribers expressed interest in CBS College Sports Network and its coverage of Conference USA's Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles.

The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, calls for CBS Sports Network to become available on CableOne's Digital Value Pak, its second level of service, on Aug. 1.
Moreover, CableOne, which counts some 690,000 subscribers in 29 states, will debut CBS Sports Network across a majority of its systems at a later date.
With the launches, CBS Sports Network, which last week netted a rights deal with the Patriot League, will boost its sub total to 43 million subscribers and it is available to 96 million households.
CBS Sports Network, through its long-term rights deal with the Mountain West Conference, will air 10 MWC football games this season, including three Boise State games: Tulsa at Boise State on Sept. 24, Boise State at UNLV on Nov. 5 and Boise State at San Diego State on Nov. 19.

"CableOne is thrilled to partner with CBS Sports Network in providing our customers with outstanding college sports programming, especially Boise State football," said Jerry McKenna, senior vice president, chief sales and marketing officer in announcing the pact. "The Boise State Broncos have proven to be one of the finest football teams in the country. Now our CableOne customers won't miss a minute of Bronco action."

"We welcome our first-ever partnership with CableOne, and look forward to serving their subscribers this fall with full college football and Boise State programming," noted Bob Rose, executive vice president of distribution at CBS Sports Network. "We're excited to serve a huge and devoted college sports fan base, providing fans access to the Network's outstanding line-up of games and in-depth coverage."
