Atlanta — Arris Group struck a deal to resell Spirent Communications' Tech-X Flex home analyzer, a handheld device for testing Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) home networks as well as DOCSIS 3.0 and other services, to cable service providers deploying multiroom DVR solutions.
"We are pleased to enter this relationship with Spirent Communications, which will enable us to offer more support products for the Arris Whole Home Solution portfolio," Kerry Lee, vice president of product line management for Arris's Supplies Division, said in a statement. "The Spirent Tech-X Flex is a proven and advanced test and measurement product to ensure high quality installations at the home."
Separately, Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Spirent is introducing a Field Management System (FMS) application for Tech-X Flex that lets MSOs more easily access and store test results as well as perform inventory management. According to the company, operators previously have needed to use back-office solutions from multiple test vendors.
The FMS application supports gathering and analyzing signal level meter (SLM), DOCSIS 3.0 and other test results, and provides a simple tool for real-time communication with field technicians.
