Time Warner Cable senior network engineer Steven Callahan won the inaugural SCTE IP Challenge, beating a field of eight other engineers and cable professionals in a test of their Internet Procotol prowess.
The event, held Thursday evening in Atlanta at the conclusion of SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo, was sponsored by Cisco Systems. As part of the SCTE IP Challenge, contestants had to configure a router in increasingly challenging tasks, starting with OSPF route configuration, moving to BGP routing, and culminating with access-control list configuration.
Callahan, who works out of TWC's Durham, N.C., location, was awarded a trophy; one full-conference pass to the Cisco Live event; and one full-conference pass to SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo 2012, scheduled for Oct. 17-19 in Orlando, Fla.
