It was a blowout between two disappointing teams, but NFL Network's Thursday Night Football still outpaced last season's corresponding telecast.
NFL Network's coverage of the Seattle Seahawks' 31-14 drubbing of the Philadelphia Eagles drew 5.9 million viewers (excluding watchers on over-the-air stations in the participating home DMAs), according to Nielsen data. TNF was the most-watched show on cable on Dec. 1 and was up 9% from the 5.4 million who watched the Eagles take on the Houston Texans a year ago.
At the midpoint of the TNF schedule, NFL Network games have averaged a record 7.1 million viewers, up 24% from the similar stage in 2010. Unlike ESPN with its Monday Night Football matchups, each one of NFLN's TNF games has outscored its counterpart from the 2010 campaign.
Complementary coverage of TNF online at NFL.com and via mobile devices was up 4% over this point last year, according to league officials.
A total of 38.8 million fans tuned in to NFL Network last month -- marking the most-viewed November in the eight-year history of the network. In addition, NFLN averaged a November-record 899,000 primetime viewers, up 23% from last year, according to Nielsen.
