CES: Verizon's Stratton To Fill In For CEO McAdam On 'Innovation' Panel

Telco Chief Canceled Appearance at Show, Citing Schedule Change

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 1/6/2012 11:00:10 AM

Verizon Communications will send the head of its newly formed Enterprise Solutions division, John Stratton, to speak on a headliner panel at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show after CEO Lowell McAdam canceled his trip to the world's largest technology exhibition.

The telco earlier this week said McAdam would not appear at the annual Las Vegas confab, citing a schedule change for the CEO.

Instead, Stratton will take the stage for the "2012 CES Innovation Power Panel" on Wednesday, Jan. 11, along with Xerox CEO Ursula Burns and Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally, according to an update posted on the CES website.

Last month, Verizon formed the Enterprise Solutions organization, which oversees business-to-business, government and wholesale operations across the company's wireless and wireline businesses. The telco appointed Stratton, previously executive vice president and chief operating officer of Verizon Wireless, as president of Verizon Enterprise Solutions.

An 18-year veteran of Verizon, Stratton also has served in marketing roles for both Verizon Wireless and Verizon Communications, as well as in a variety of senior sales and operations positions. Stratton joined Verizon's predecessor company, Bell Atlantic Mobile, in 1993 as director of retail sales and operations. With the creation of Verizon Wireless in 2000, Stratton assumed the role of president of the carrier's Northwest area.

Prior to joining Verizon, he held several senior management positions in the consumer-electronics industry.
