Hispanic Nets Unveil 2012-13 Upfront Plans

Presentations Set for May 15-16 in New York

By Laura Martinez -- Multichannel News, 1/18/2012 3:07:32 PM

Hispanic-network media buyers and planners should mark their calendars for May 15.

Three major Hispanic networks have set that upfront presentations to advertisers for that busy Tuesday.

Univision Communications was first to make its plans public, setting its presentation for 11 a.m. at New York's New Amsterdam Theatre. It's the same venue as last year.

At 3:30 p.m., Discovery U.S. Hispanic will host its 2012-13 upfront at the Times Center, sharing programming announcements from flagship Discovery en Español, as well as Discovery Familia.

No word yet on whether Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav will attend, as he did last year at the Four Seasons in Midtown.

Telemundo will welcome its guests to a 6 p.m. presentation at the American Museum of National History, same as in 2011.

Before the presentation, the network said it will again hold "client development meetings," a series of conversations with marketers and agencies held in advance of the presentation.

V-me will stage its upfront on May 16 at 3 p.m., in a not-yet-determined venue. It will be the channel's first under recently appointed general manager Alvaro Garnica.

And Fox Hispanic Media also plans to host its annual upfront presentation on May 16 in New York, though it has not selected a specific location yet.
