Showtime said it's seeing growth in Sunday night series, including newcomer House of Lies, and HBO has already renewed horse-racing drama Luck after one night on the track.
Showtime said returning comedy Shameless earned 1.37 million viewers on Sunday at 9 p.m. (up 7% from the prior week) and 1.88 million viewers for the night. The Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy starrer delivered the highest time slot ratings and total night delivery since its premiere. Up 30% in its weekly viewer count (averaging 4.75 million viewers), the show is the network's No. 2 rated series behind Dexter.
House of Lies, in its first week airing without football, grew by 41% versus its prior week to deliver 1.02 million viewers at 10 p.m. and 1.35 million viewers for the night, Showtime said. It's the second highest-rated Showtime freshman premiere night ever and is on track to be the network's highest-rated comedy. It stars Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell.

Californication, meanwhile, garnered 748,000 viewers at 10:30 p.m. Sunday (up 17% percent versus its prior week) and 1 million viewers for the night, Showtime said.
HBO said it's renewed Luck for a second season, with an order of 10 more episodes, with production scheduled to resume at the end of February for a January 2013 premiere.
Luck's premiere episode saw an audience of 3.3 million total viewers across all plays, including 1.1 million viewers for both the Dec. 11 sneak peek and Jan. 29 premiere and picked up an additional 711,000 viewers and 420,000 viewers in its 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. re-airings, respectively, on Sunday.
The series, from director Michael Mann and David Milch (Deadwood), stars Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte. Here is our review.
