Clearleap Hires Cisco Veteran Van Orden

Exec to Serve as Vice President of Product Marketing for Internet-Based VOD Vendor

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 2/1/2012 9:39:13 AM

Clearleap, a provider of Internet-based video-on-demand systems for service providers, has hired former Cisco Systems and Scientific Atlanta exec Bob Van Orden as vice president of product marketing.

Van Orden is responsible for all of Clearleap's product marketing and strategy efforts. He reports to Clearleap CEO Braxton Jarratt.

Most recently Van Orden worked at Cisco, where he held key positions including general manager of the IPTV middleware business unit. He joined Cisco when it acquired Scientific Atlanta, where he served in senior management roles responsible for product strategy, business development and marketing. Van Orden was part of the teams at SA that launched the company's first digital set-top box and digital video recorder.

Prior to Scientific Atlanta, Van Orden served as business development manager with Ameritech in Chicago (now part of AT&T).

"Bob has a great track record of bringing products to the video marketplace and knows how to work with the industry to solve problems and create new revenue opportunities," Jarratt said in an announcement. "With his deep knowledge of IPTV and cloud technologies, Bob is going to help take our product team and cloud platform to the next level."

Van Orden holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor of arts degree from Emory University. He has been granted three patents and has five patents pending in the fields of television user interfaces and remote controls.

Privately held Clearleap, based in Duluth, Ga., provides services to operators including Verizon FiOS, Comcast's Houston division, Mediacom Communications and Bresnan Communications (now part of Cablevision). Clearleap investors include Noro-Mosely Partners, Trinity Ventures and Silicon Valley Bank.
