Critically loved sketch series Key & Peele debuted to the biggest audience (2.1 million viewers) of a Comedy Central series launch since 2009, when its male-drawing lead-in, Tosh.0, debuted.
Tosh.0's fourth-season debut just ahead of Key & Peele drew 3.1 million total viewers to its season premiere, along with a 2.3 adult 18-49 rating, 4.1 men 18-34 rating and a 4.6 men 18-24 rating, the MTV Networks outlet said.
Scoring big with young men, Tosh.0 was the No. 1 series in prime on Tuesday night across all of television with men 18-34 and men 18-24, scoring the best rating among men 18-24 for any of the series’ season premieres, Comedy Central said.
Key & Peele’s 2.1 million total included a 2.6 men 18-34 rating and a 3.3 men 18-24 rating to finish as #1 in its timeslot with both demographics across all of television, again according to Comedy, citing Nielsen ratings.
For the night, the inaugural episode of Key & Peele finished behind only Tosh.0 in all of television for Tuesday prime among men 18-24. #KeyAndPeele was the #1 trending topic on Twitter during its premiere play, Comedy said.
Daniel Tosh’s Tosh.0 delves into all aspects of the Internet from the absolutely absurd to the incredibly ingenious in this weekly, topical series. The series premiered on June 4, 2009 and is the most-watched and highest-rated series on Comedy Central.
