With major on-court contributions keying the New York Knicks' three-game winning streaking, the emergence of Jeremy Lin is resonating with viewers.
Since the unheralded point guard from Harvard entered the club's starting lineup -- following a breakout performance against cross Hudson River rival New Jersey Nets last Saturday night -- on Feb. 6, MSG Network's ratings for a pair of Knicks telecasts have soared.
MSG netted a 2.68 household rating in the New York DMA with its coverage of Lin and the Knicks beating the Utah Jazz on Feb. 6, and followed up with a W versus the Washington Wizards on Feb. 8, which scored a 2.42 rating. The 2.55 mark for the pair of contests is 66% greater than the regional sports network's 1.88. Through its first 22 Knicks' telecasts in the 2011-12 NBA season, MSG's ratings were up 66% from a 1.13 mark during the corresponding number of contests the prior season.
Next up for Lin, Knicks and MSG: Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 10. The game, which will air nationally on ESPN, tips off at 8 p.m. (ET).
