Cable Reigns At NAACP Image Awards

HBO, TBS, OWN, BET Win Multiple Awards

The cable industry was well-represented among the winners of the 2012 NAACP Image Awards.

BET, TBS, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and HBO were among the networks winning multiple Image Awards for excellence in television programming created by and for people of color. BET freshman series Reed Between The Lines' stars Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Tracee Ellis Ross earned awards in the best actor and actress in a comedy series categories respectively during the Feb. 17 ceremony televised by NBC.

The 43nd annual NAACP Image Awards also presented awards in the fields of motion picture, recording and literature.

TBS' Tyler Perry's House Of Payne won best comedy series, while series star Keshia Knight Pulliam earned supporting actress in a comedy series honors. Oprah Winfrey won Image Awards for two of her OWN series - Oprah's Lifeclass (Outstanding Talk Series) and Oprah Presents: Master Class (Outstanding Variety Series or Special.)

HBO's Thurgood took home awards for outstanding television, movie, mini-series and dramatic special and for outstanding actor (Laurence Fishburne).
