Bright House Networks has been named the official telecommunications provider of the Republican National Convention, slated Aug. 27-30 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The predominant provider in Tampa, Bright House Networks was selected by the Committee of Arrangements. In this capacity, the MSO will serve as the exclusive vendor and provider of video, high-speed data and wireline voice services to the COA and convention attendees, vendors and media. The company will offer a broad range of video and communications options, including dedicated access Internet services scalable from 10 Mbps per second to one Gbps per second and metro Ethernet.
In anticipation of the increased network demand in Tampa, Bright House Networks plans to expand its fiber infrastructure around the Tampa Bay Times Forum and Tampa Convention Center. The company already operates one of the largest network infrastructures in the Tampa Bay area.
"We are thrilled to be working with the COA on the 2012 Republican National Convention in August," said Bright House Networks executive vice president of operations Kevin Hyman in a statement. "Our team is extremely dedicated to helping to make this convention a resounding success, and our advanced communications services will provide the infrastructure necessary to successfully handle the voice and data needs of the tens of thousands of attendees at the event."
Noted convention CEO William Harris: "Bright House Networks is an ideal partner for us as we plan the 2012 Republican National Convention. We are pleased to welcome them as our telecommunications provider. The company is committed to the Tampa Bay area, and it has one of the most advanced fiber optic networks available in the industry. Its services will be instrumental in helping delegates and members of the media communicate seamlessly during the convention."
