A&E Network will once again tap the British television market for a new original series.
The network has green-lit production on Airline, a new reality series that takes a behind-the-scenes look at the tension and drama surrounding commercial airline travel, network executives said.
The skein, which will focus on Southwest Airlines Co., is based on a hit British television show of the same name. The network’s recently launched scripted series, MI-5, is also based on a U.K. dramatic show.
"The many flights of Southwest Airlines offer the perfect vehicle for a multitude of compelling stories," A&E senior vice president of programming Robert DeBitetto said in a prepared statement.
"The pilots, flight attendants, airport employees and others interact every day with hurried executives, crying children, weary travelers and heightened security," he added. "It’s a crazy way of life and one that is extraordinarily interesting to watch."
