On the third night of the Democratic National Convention, Cable News Network’s primetime coverage continued to lead in terms of total viewership, according to Nielsen Media Research.
On Wednesday night, when Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) took the stage, CNN racked up 2.2 million viewers in primetime, versus 1.8 million for Fox News Channel and 1.1 million for MSNBC.
For the three days of the convention so far, CNN is averaging 2.2 million viewers in primetime, with Fox News attracting 1.9 million and MSNBC 1.2 million.
Fox News is up more than any of the other news channels versus the primetime viewership it tracked for the 2000 DNC. For example, the network was up 365% Wednesday compared with the same convention day in 2000.
CNN was up 38% compared with the same day four years ago, while MSNBC was up 7%.
