Amphenol Corp. said Wednesday that earnings per share in the first quarter were 40 cents, up 48% from 27 cents in the year-ago period.
The per-share figures have been adjusted to reflect the fiber-optic-gear vendor’s 2-for-1 split this past March.
Sales for the first quarter rose 28% to $355.261 million from $277.774 million in the first quarter of 2003.
“The interconnect portion of our business, which represents 89% of our sales, was up a strong 28% over last year with excellent profitability,” chairman and CEO Martin H. Loeffler said in a prepared statement.
“The growth was broad-based across most of our end markets and included all major geographic regions,” he added.
