Ellacoya Protects Networks from Intruders

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 6/15/2004 9:50:00 AM

Ellacoya Networks Inc. debuted its “Network Intrusion Manager” module at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable-Tec Expo Tuesday.

The NIM -- integrated with Sourcefire Inc.” Intrusion Sensors” from that company’s “3D Product Suite” -- allows broadband operators to automatically detect and prevent the spread of network threats such as denial-of-service attacks, worms and viruses in real-time.

“The majority of network users spreading viruses and worms are completely unaware that they are infected and that they are infecting other users," Ellacoya founder and chief technology officer Kurt Dobbins said in a prepared statement.

“With Ellacoya's Network Intrusion Manager, we are enabling the broadband operator to dynamically protect the network and other users, while also providing subscribers with notification of infections and the means to cleanse their computer systems,” he added.
