Time Warner Cable New York City will air seven new networks on its digital package beginning Tuesday.
The operator announced that it will offer Boomerang (channel 109), CNBC World (139), CMT: Country Music Television (140), Great American Country (141), Word Network (channel 142) and Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network (143) to its digital customers in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Mount Vernon, N.Y., as well as in Bergen County, N.J.
It will also offer TV5 Etats-Unis, a premium French-language service, for $9.95 per month on digital channel 555.
TV5 Monde, sister network to TV5 Etats-Unis, claims to be the globe's third-largest network behind MTV: Music Television and Cable News Network.
The New York metro area has approximately 500,000 French-speaking people in its service area, and the channel also hopes to draw from Francophiles, network officials said during a conference call with reporters Monday.
TV 5 Etats-Unis' schedule includes daily newscasts, primetime movie blocks (arranged each night by genre), fashion shows, international soccer and rugby, food shows and weekday-afternoon children's fare.
There are also changes afoot for the MSO's area analog customers, as Madison Square Garden Network will become a 24-hour service on channel 27.
MSGN's expansion to full-time carriage results in a new home for former co-channel mate CNNfn, which will now share time with CNN International and YES on channel 80.
Fledgling sports network YES' coverage of 130 New York Yankees Major League Baseball games will be available to all basic customers.
NGTV, a Greek service, will be bumped to digital channel 509.
