Sales Slip Slightly at Blonder Tongue

Blonder Tongue Laboratories Inc. said Thursday that net first-quarter sales were $8.529 million compared with $8,602 million in the first quarter of 2003.
Digital-product sales fell to $1.19 million from $1.336 million in the year-earlier period, while interdiction-product sales were $677,000 versus $775,000 in the prior-year quarter.
The vendor cut its first-quarter net loss to $397,000 in 2004 compared with $758,000 in 2003.
“Sales activity at the end of the first quarter suggests that the bottom has been reached and the company's core business should begin to rebound,” chairman and CEO James A. Luksch said in a prepared statement.
“We expect that the pickup in our core business will be augmented by increased sales activity for our telephony and high-speed-data products and services, which are also anticipated to contribute positively to future sales and earnings,” he added.
