Animal's Retrievers Hunt Ratings

Animal Planet's original movie, The Retrievers, fetched record ratings for the network.

The film's two-hour premiere, which took the leash off the channel's 'Movie Week' stunt, averaged a 1.89 household rating from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 31, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

The Retrievers' performance -- the best ever for the channel -- was 238 percent higher than the network's 0.56 primetime average for the third quarter to date. The film also helped to boost Animal Planet to a 1.5 household average for the evening, translating into 1.3 million households and 2.1 million viewers.
