CommScope Sees Slight Uptick

CommScope Properties LLC said it expects first-quarter-2002 sales to be 'modestly higher' than in the fourth quarter, but its purchase of OFS BrightWave LLC will drag down earnings.

Citing ongoing pricing pressure and weak demand for fiber-optic products, the company said it expects OFS BrightWave to incur losses this year.

CommScope reported $143.5 million in fourth-quarter revenue and income before equity losses of $5.9 million, unchanged from its Feb. 6 report.
