Comcast Begins Dallas Network Rebuild

Comcast Corp. is forging ahead with its task to upgrade former AT&T Broadband markets, this time starting construction on a digital fiber-optic network in Dallas.
Comcast will spend $70 million on the network and its surrounding Texas cable system during the next year. That will expand the availability of digital-cable channels and high-speed Internet service.
Comcast plans to schedule most of the construction during the low-television-viewing hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays to minimize TV-service interruptions.
"This network upgrade is a major business and economic commitment to the Dallas community, and we're excited that this important project is under way," said Ann Montgomery, regional senior vice president for Comcast's Southern region, in a release.
"Upgrading our cable network will enable us to add new channels, offer `Comcast High-Speed Internet' service and ensure that Dallas residents will be able to enjoy advanced cable services in the future," she added.
