Turner Climbs Aboard Charter’s Ride

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 9/8/2004 11:50:00 AM

Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and its networks signed on as associate sponsors of Charter Communications Inc.’s National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing Ford Taurus.

Turner, Cable News Network, CNNfn, Cartoon Network, CNN Headline News and TBS will help to support the No. 60 car through the end of the NASCAR season.

Cartoon’s logo will be the first to appear, during this weekend’s NASCAR Busch Series race at the California Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

“We welcome Turner to our NASCAR sponsorship,” Charter senior vice president of marketing and advertising sales Jim Heneghan said in a prepared statement. “We’re having great success with the No. 60 car as an advertising and marketing tool and as an employee morale-builder. It should prove equally successful in promoting CNN’s election coverage and other robust Turner programming.”

Added Turner Network Sales VP of strategic marketing Jennifer Mirgorod, “We are thrilled to serve as a sponsor of the Charter No. 60 car to further show our support of an important affiliate partner and the widely popular sport of NASCAR.”
