MTV: Music Television and PepsiCo Inc.'s FruitWorks are teaming up on a second summer promotion.
The Viacom Inc. network and the beverage giant's juice-drink line have launched 'MTV/FruitWorks Consumer Electronics Sweepstakes,' the companies announced. Running from late June through September, the sweepstakes touts MTV-branded electronics products and FruitWorks drinks and offers as a grand prize a trip for four to the network's New Year's Eve party in New York.
MTV is currently airing a spot highlighting this year's partnership in which factory workers stare blankly at bland products. Then one of the workers pours FruitWorks into the factory's machinery, prompting a transformation to a party scene and a conveyor belt carrying brightly colored MTV electronics items.
The companies are also taking the program to local neighborhoods in major metro markets via a 12-week summer sampling initiative that will afford participants a chance to win electronics goods and beverages.
MTV's line of music products, licensed to Refac Consumer Products Inc., include a portable CD player, a CD player with MP3 readability, a scooter radio, a sports radio, headphones and neck phones.
Last year, FruitWorks and MTV combined on 'Inside TRL,' a home-video promotion in which the grand-prize winner won a trip to New York to attend the network's popular Total Request Live show.
