Scripps Networks Tuesday named television and new-media veteran Ken Solomon president of Fine Living, the luxury-lifestyle channel set to launch later this year.
Solomon, 38, is a former studio-production head who will join Scripps later this month from iBlast, where he was president. Solomon helped to build iBlast Networks, the largest commercial-broadcast-distribution network delivering high-speed data directly to consumers.
Solomon, who will be based in Los Angeles, is also a former president of Universal Television, now Studios USA, where he oversaw development and distribution of primetime network, cable, syndication and made-for-television movies.
Solomon was also a co-head of DreamWorks Television. Prior to that, he worked at News Corp. and Fox Broadcasting. At News, Solomon helped to launch FX.
Fine Living, Scripps' fourth cable venture, is a TV network and interactive Web-based service that provides content to help people 'explore their passions and interests in the finer things of life,' according to officials.
'I have known and respected Ken Solomon for years, and he is a perfect fit for Fine Living,' E.W. Scripps Co. CEO Ken Lowe said in a prepared statement. 'Ken will draw upon his vast experience in both content development and program distribution as he readies the network for launch later this year.'
