Cox Business Gets a New Edge

New Edge Network Inc. said it has signed a deal with Cox Business Services to provide high-speed Internet access and wide-area-networking services to businesses with remote locations of telecommuters who want cable-modem access versus other technologies.
New Edge said it will establish peering connections with Cox in Chicago; Ashburn, Va.; and San Jose, Calif., so traffic won't go on the public Internet.
Amy Erwin, vice president of national accounts at Cox Business, said the deal means the MSO will be able to attract customers outside of its franchise territories who might have business locations with teleworkers inside Cox systems.
